The Perini Navi Group launch SY Panthalassa: the 8th sailing yacht in their 56 meter series
The Perini Navi Group, world leader in the construction of luxury sailing and motor yachts, is pleased to announce the launching of 56 meter ketch SY Panthalassa, the 47th unit in the fleet and number eight of the series.
Designed by Perini Navi’s in-house naval architects together with Ron Holland, SY Panthalassa features many important innovations in both naval architecture and interior design. Panthalassa boasts an ultra-light streamlined aluminium hull with maximum displacement optimized at 540 tons in order to guarantee both excellent sailing performances and extreme comfort. Perini Navi Group Mast Department constructed and engineered both aluminium masts, the 58.8m main mast and the 48.26m mizzen, and the furling boom in carbon fibre. Total sail area is expected to reach 1,500 m².
The aluminium superstructure design is totally new and marked by a more racy and aerodynamic line in comparison with the previous yachts of this series. The interiors, designed by Foster and Partners, are based on wellbeing and harmony. This is achieved in great part by the distribution of natural light into the boat thanks to 3 large sky lights. The entire concept of the British designer may be characterized in the elliptical aerial central staircase. The lower deck is totally different from all the other 56m the lay out does not include, a classic owner cabin, but instead has 6 similar size cabins for a maximum of 12 guests: 4 with queen-size beds and 2 twin bedded cabins that can be transformed into queen-size beds. Each cabin has a private bathroom and chaise longue.
Panthalassa is the eighth 56m sailing yacht launched by Perini Navi. The first 56m, Burrasca, was launched in 2003, and was then followed by Santa Maria (now Zenji), Rosehearty, Selene, Salute Silvana and Riela. In the next years another 2 units will be built in this same series, with similar naval architecture and fully customized interiors. Besides the 56m series, Perini Navi’s production plan 2009-2013 will include two 45m steel sailing yachts; the second of the very successful 38m performance sailing yacht series constructed in Sealium, an aluminium alloy; one 59m sailing yacht, one 50m and three motor yachts: a 50m, 55m and a 73 meter in the new Vitruvius series, a project that will re-launch the Picchiotti historical brand in the world of luxury yachting. In total 7 sailing yachts and 3 motor yachts.
