Born into a papermaking family in the province of Lucca, Fabio Perini invented and patented an automated mechanism for paper manufacturing at the tender age of 17. Just over a year later, he was already running his own business. In 1966, he founded Fabio Perini SpA, a company that would make history in the world of tissue paper. In less than 20 years, the company became the world leader in its field with facilities across the globe.
A flair for innovation
In 1983, Fabio Perini transferred his flair for innovation to boat building by creating a new concept for the design, construction and handling of large sailing yachts that drew on cutting-edge technology and a different distribution of space. Since then, Perini Navi has delivered 60 bluewater sailing yachts, the majority over 40m in length. The launch of 50m Exuma, 55m Galileo G and 73m Grace E, today named Nautilus, three exceptional explorer yachts built by the yard in La Spezia, firmly established the group’s reputation as a builder of both sailing and motor yachts.
With its signature blend of sleek good looks and breakthrough engineering, Perini Navi has long been a household name among discerning yacht owners around the world. In 1991 Fabio Perini was nominated ‘Cavaliere del Lavoro’, the equivalent of a Baronetcy, in recognition of his contribution to Italian industry.
“The most beautiful feature of a yacht is the sea around it”
