SY CHRISTIANNE B – 42.5m ketch (1986) – C.8502
A pioneering circumnavigator
Launched in 1986, Christianne B carried forward the momentum initiated by La Numero Uno, translating Fabio Perini’s vision into a yacht of greater scale and ambition. Originally commissioned for a treasure hunter, she extended to 42.5 metres overall, with a waterline length of 32.5 metres and a beam of 7.56 metres. Her steel hull and aluminium superstructure formed a robust yet elegant profile, while her variable draught—2.2 metres keel up, 5.7 metres keel down—granted both accessibility in coastal waters and stability in the open sea. Immediately after her launch, Christianne B embarked on a circumnavigation, completing not one but at least three voyages around the globe within her first six years—an unprecedented feat for a sailing yacht of her size and comfort.
DESIGN IDENTITY
The evolved vision
Her interiors, conceived by Perini Navi, reflected a deliberate balance between liveability and refined seafaring style. Across 68 square metres of owner and guest cabins and 66 square metres dedicated to saloon and wheelhouse, she created a luminous residence at sea. The 53 square metres of crew area and a 30-square-metre cockpit ensured both functionality and social life on deck, while a discreet lazarette of 5 square metres offered additional stowage. Every dimension of Christianne B revealed the shipyard’s evolving mastery: from the proportions of her volumes to the automated sail-handling systems that allowed such a yacht to be managed with remarkable ease.
