SY MALTESE FALCON – 88 M FALCON RIG (2006) – C.2056
The Icon Reborn
Launched in 2006 for the visionary entrepreneur Thomas J. Perkins, S/Y Maltese Falcon is the most celebrated Perini Navi ever created, and one of the most iconic sailing yachts of all time. Extending 88 metres overall with a beam of 12.6 metres, she embodies strength, scale, and avant-garde elegance. Built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, displacing more than 1,200 tonnes, she redefined what a sailing superyacht could be. At her heart lies the Falcon Rig, a revolutionary invention by Fabio Perini and Gerard Dijkstra: three free-standing carbon masts, each 58 metres high, with 15 square sails that furl seamlessly within the spars. With more than 2,400 square metres of sail area, the system allows her to achieve speeds above 20 knots with unprecedented ease, automation, and safety.
DESIGN IDENTITY
Theatrum maris
The interiors, entrusted to Ken Freivokh Design, combine theatrical scale with refined intimacy. Across 432 square metres of guest accommodations, up to twelve guests are hosted in six staterooms, including a full-beam owner’s suite. Vast saloons, extending nearly 300 square metres, are bathed in natural light through sweeping windows, while the 339-square-metre cockpit provides an expansive stage for al fresco life. With more than 290 square metres dedicated to crew spaces, Maltese Falcon was conceived as a true seaborne theatre: a yacht where art, technology, and lifestyle converge, and where the boundary between performance sailing and refined living dissolves.
INTERIOR DESIGN
Oceanic theatre
The interiors of S/Y Maltese Falcon are staged as a grand composition where modernity meets theatrical elegance. At the heart of the yacht lies a sweeping central saloon, crowned by a sculptural bar of polished steel and lacquer, framed by intimate lounge corners and symmetrically rising staircases. The dining area, set with precision and adorned with delicate details, opens seamlessly onto this stage, creating a fluid environment where convivial gatherings and refined ceremonies unfold with equal grace. Materials of lustrous metal, dark woods, and soft upholstery play in counterpoint, while careful lighting enhances every surface, giving the impression of an interior designed not only for comfort, but for spectacle upon the sea.
