SY MORNING GLORY – 48 m Ketch (1993)
Measured. Maritime. Mastery.
Delivered in 1993 by Perini Navi, Morning Glory belongs to the distinguished 48M series, one of only three yachts built to this configuration. Conceived as a 48.16-metre sailing yacht with motorsailer attributes, she represents a mature expression of the yard’s early 1990s philosophy: ocean-going range combined with architectural composure.
Her presence marks a decisive moment in Perini Navi’s scale progression, where increased length translated into expanded autonomy and refined onboard volume.
DESIGN IDENTITY
Scale. Structure. Sovereignty.
With a beam of 9.21 metres and a gross tonnage of 309 GT, she carries the disciplined geometry that defines the 48M platform. Her steel hull, aluminium superstructure and teak decks form a structural triad that delivers strength, endurance and material warmth.
Exterior design, naval architecture and interior styling were conceived entirely in-house by Perini Navi, affirming the integrated authorship that characterised the yard’s most cohesive projects.
Her configuration welcomes up to ten guests across four staterooms, supported by a professional crew of eight. Interior volumes reflect the architectural clarity typical of the series, where generous deck spaces and balanced superstructure proportions create visual equilibrium at anchor and under sail.
Morning Glory expresses structural authority through proportion rather than ornament.
SIGNATURE ADVANCES
Range. Power. Reach.
Powered by twin MTU diesel engines, she achieves a top speed of 14 knots and sustains an extensive cruising range of approximately 4,800 nautical miles. This performance profile situates her among the most capable sailing yachts within the 45–50 metre segment of her generation.
Within her size range worldwide, she ranks in the upper decile by length overall. Comparative metrics place her cruising and top speeds above the segment average, reinforcing her performance credentials.
Morning Glory stands as a demonstration of Perini Navi’s ability to scale its sailing architecture without sacrificing composure, autonomy or technical integrity.
