A meeting of pioneers
Launched in Viareggio in 1987, S/Y Paz, originally Andromeda la Dea, was the first Perini Navi commissioned by American entrepreneur Thomas Perkins. The encounter between Perkins, celebrated as the father of high-tech venture capital and an early investor in Genentech, Google, and Amazon, and Fabio Perini, visionary inventor of automated sail-handling systems, marked the perfect confluence of Silicon Valley audacity and Italian ingenuity. Extending 43 metres overall with a waterline length of 34.5 metres and a maximum beam of 8.8 metres, Paz embodied strength and refinement with a steel hull, aluminium superstructure, and a displacement of 296 tonnes. She crossed the Atlantic on multiple occasions and circumnavigated the globe, proving the range and reliability of the Perini Navi philosophy.
DESIGN IDENTITY
ELEGANCE AT SEA
Paz was conceived as an evolution of the first two yachts, with amplified dimensions and volumes to enhance life at sea. Her draught varied from 2.8 to 6.3 metres, balancing access and stability. A 40-square-metre aft cockpit was drawn as an expansive social stage, while a larger flying bridge offered al fresco comfort with panoramic views. Interiors by Perini Navi extended across 84 square metres of cabins and 100 square metres of saloon and wheelhouse, creating luminous, proportioned spaces that echoed the comforts of a refined residence. Crew lived within 54 square metres of dedicated quarters, enabling seamless service and discreet management of the yacht. Her twin MTU 183 TE 91 engines, delivering 2 x 441 kW, supported transoceanic passages at a steady 13 knots, while her ketch rig carried 900 square metres of sail area aloft, spread across masts rising 45 and 33.8 metres above the waterline.
