Designed by architects Axel De Beaufort and Guillaume Verdier, who masterfully handled both the exterior and interior design, the Art Explorer is the world’s largest sailing catamaran made of aluminum.
With a length of 47 meters, an exceptional beam of 17.30 meters, and an impressive carbon sailing plan with a 55-meter mast, the Art Explorer is a unique and avant-garde project. It’s a true “floating museum”—the first and only of its kind—that will travel the world for two years, bringing artistic experiences and a strong message of environmental sustainability.
The vessel is also highly focused on sustainability. The roof of the deckhouse is equipped with 65 m² of solar panels, capable of producing up to 12 kW instantly, with an overall daily capacity of more than 200 kW. This system is supported by a lithium battery bank, providing zero-emission electrical generation for over 6 hours, even at full onboard load.
The catamaran is certified with a “green” class notation and features catalytic filters to reduce exhaust emissions and particulate matter. Additionally, all maneuvers in ports and protected areas will be performed in full-electric mode.
Thanks to its powerful sailing plan, which is fully automated and can be managed by a single person, the catamaran is capable of sailing at a speed of 10 knots even in very light winds.
