Non tutti amavano il pozzetto di prua, ma lo spazio e il comfort di S/Y Liberty erano impareggiabili. Una delle più esperte famiglie di armatori decise quindi di optare per una versione più tradizionale della serie dei 52 m e costruirono il S/Y Independence. Lo yacht ha avuto un solo cambio di proprietà negli anni ed il suo potenziale è stato immediatamente riconosciuto anche da un altro armatore che ne ha ordinato subito una gemella.
